Week 26
So we’re….halfway through the year??? Can that possibly be right??? God damn.
This week: THE JASMINE THRONE by Tasha Suri and PYRAMIDS by Terry Pratchett
Week 25
Only one book this week, instead of two…trying to be okay with that pace. As I said (maybe?) at the beginning of this year, I’m trying to hold myself less to a certain pace of reading, but it still stings when I fall behind it. Partially because there’s always just SO many books I want to read!
This week: Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
Week 24
Wooooooof it has been a hot week. I feel as though my brain has perhaps leaked out of my ears a little over the course of this heatwave, and the words have been, uh, difficult lately. Either way, I did manage to read some books!
This week: Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo, Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi
Week 23
It’s!!! June!!! Apparently!!! We are rapidly approaching the midpoint of the year! This is fine! Everything is fine!
In other news, I got my first jab of the vaccine, so I look forward to being able to rejoin society some day.
This week: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo and Fireheart Tiger by Aliette de Bodard
Week 22
Hmmmmmmmmmm unhappy about it being the last week of May!!! Not super comfortable with that tbqh!!!!
Today’s reads: The Unbroken by C.L. Clark, The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick
Week 21
Wow it sure is hot out, huh? I feel as though the pandemic has made any sense I had of the changing of seasons just completely go away. Who the hell knows at any point what the weather might be like outside?
Anyway. Books!
Week 20
Have I struggled yet with the fact that it’s May? April seemed like it went by completely in a rush, I cannot comprehend the passage of time.
The real tragedy is that I think I missed out on all my chances to make ‘Nsync jokes :(
Week 19
I seem to have gone down a bit of a thriller rabbit hole, which is always a dangerous place to be. I like thrillers and mysteries, but it’s a hard genre to get right, and it seems like it so often is steeped in ableism and other bigotries.
Ah well. Every so often I find a gem, I suppose.
Week 18
I may have done the thing where I checked out too many books from the library again.
Oops??
Week 17
This week, I take a deep dive into horror in what is perhaps escapism and is perhaps just really good books. Sometimes it’s hard to tell, really.
Still, focus can be an issue for me lately, so anything that manages to keep my focus definitely gets a shout-out!
